White Desk Options For Students And Offices

by Howard Stanford on June 21, 2010

Desks serve a lot of purposes today. Its use can range from a place where students can read and write in school to a place where business men and women can do their calculations and tasks in the office. One of the most commonly used types of desks nowadays are white desks.  Choosing a white desk is a popular option, since they give an office or classroom a bright ambiance and are often beautiful and inviting – plus they give off a touch of elegance.

White desk furniture is now used almost everywhere and come in a wide variety including:

The White Student’s Desk – these come in great use for students mainly teenagers and pre-teens both at home and in school. These are also called left pedestal desks and right pedestal desks depending on where its single pedestal is situated. A white desk can serve as a charming workstation for a child in his bedroom. Often times, these student desks are built with drawers for storage and a large surface area where children can spread out their work.

The White Computer Desk– this come great for computer laboratories in schools or may serve as a table where students can place their desktop computers in their rooms at home, which they use in doing computer-related assignments such as those that need some research and browsing in the internet. Very often, white computer desks are built in a way for the computer’s monitor to be positioned within the student’s field of view so it becomes the focus of activity without obstructing lessons being discussed in front or visual presentations. This way, students can get a better view of what is being shown by the instructor in front. This manner of building computer desks is referred to as the “heads up” concept. For a more uniformed look in the classroom, these desks are paired with a white desk chair.

A White Writing Desk – these are different from standard desks as to the reason that they are more compact in size. Their size makes them fit well or perfectly in either a bedroom or a small office. These can be utilized as working surfaces where one can write down notes or letters. At least two drawers for storage are built in with these desks. Some of these may also feature a hutch on top of the desk, which can serve as an additional storage area for things.

The Antique White Desk – this is an old fashioned type of desk that can perfectly suit many modern offices of today, adding a focal point and being a conversation piece. These are often handcrafted from hard wood solids and veneers plus some white resin accents and a hand-applied textured finish.
